Fascist policing against political oppositions
In a setback for democratic aspirations of citizens of the country, the youth and students particularly, the Kerala High Court cancelled the bail granted to Twaha Fasal, a Journalism student who was charged under UAPA in the Pantheerankavu Case for alleged Maoist links. The High Court has not cancelled the bail granted to Allan Shuhaib, who was also arrested along with Thwaha. The two have already languished in jail for ten months as under trials, before being granted bail by Special NIA Court. Cancelling the bail granted to Twaha, a student from marginalized background, the Court ordered him to surrender immediately.
Twaha and Alan was arrested under the draconian UAPA in November 2019, in Pantheerankavu, Kerala, for alleged possession of documents which threatened ‘national interest’, by Kerala Police under the Left Democratic Front of CPIM, later taken over by NIA. Reportedly, documents against police atrocities, abrogation of special status to J&K, fake encounter killings of Maoists were seized.
Denial of bail for mere possession of documents is absolute denial of justice, by any measure of democracy, and fascist policing against political oppositions. But that is precisely the purpose of UAPA and ruling state. From Pantheerankavu to NorthEast Delhi and Bhima Koregaon Case, comrades and activists best committed to democracy and better future are languishing behind jails of this Brahminical Hindutva state.
We appeal all students and democratic minded citizens to condemn and protest against the witch hunting of fellow comrade Twaha Fasal and other political prisoners. We also shout morr loudly for repeal of the draconian and colonial UAPA.
STOP WITCH HUNTING OF STUDENT ACTIVISTS!
REPEAL UAPA!
