Is betting legal in India?

The short version

India does not run a national “download this cricket app” licence of the kind these brands sell. Gambling has long been treated as a state subject, with a colonial-era public gambling frame still in the mix and a pile of state amendments on top. Some states restrict or prohibit online betting and casino-style play. Some land-based products exist under local frameworks.
