Condemn the arrest of Prof. Hany Babu, Media Secretary, CRPP.
Yesterday NIA arrested D.U. professor Hany Babu, who happened to be the media secretary of our all India body and also one of the members of the Defence Committee for Prof. G.N. Saibaba, who is now facing the life sentence.
From the media reports we have come know that after 6 days of continuous grilling by the NIA officers Hany Babu has been finally booked in the Elgar Parishad case since he denied to implicate his colleagues & others even on the face of continuous pressure from the NIA. Earlier in September last year his house was raided by the NIA without giving him any search warrant. At that time electronic devices like his laptop and mobile phones were seized by the NIA without giving him the hash value. This means that these devices are kept open for tampering. Obviously we suspect that the state is trying to implicate Hany Babu in the infamous Bhima Koregaon case by producing another lot of fabricated evidences.
Hany Babu is known for his fight, both academically and as an activist, against the oppresive caste system of our country. He has also been an active defender of the rights of the political prisoners.
We strongly condemn the arrest of Hany Babu and demand his immediate and unconditional release. We also demand the withdrawal of the fabricated Bhima Koregaon case and unconditional release of all the other 11 individuals booked in that case. Side by side we also condemn the high-handedness shown by the NIA in summoning the Hydrabad-based journalist & poet Kranti Teluka to covid-infested Mumbai for the purpose of questioning.
